Where: Farmer's Square
What: Chrissy hosts an event known to her homeland
Watch For: Fireworks, Singing, colorful things

"Alright everyone, for the one or two of you out there who doesn't know, I'm Aya Shameimaru and I'll be judging this cooking competition! You'll only have a limited time to finish your dish. Use whatever you brought and whatever you can find, as long as it's raw and it's edible!" Aya grins, standing at the judge's booth, She has her notepad out in front of her. "I'll be judging based on appearances, scent, and taste, so keep that in mind with your dishes. And with that... Let the first summer festival cooking competition - which I am not sure if it'll be annual or not yet - begin!"

--------------------

Kani Basami never tried cooking fancy before! She brought all kinds of herbs and such that she found on the lakeside to spice this dish up, and she's pretty sure most of them are even edible! So, heading to a grill, she tosses her fishy catches onto it and lights it up!
"Alright, I'm gonna win for sure with thi- BWAH!?" Oh no, she forgot to place the actual grill over the coals! The fish are going up in flames! Dancing around in panic, the crab youkai tries to think of something to fix the situation, but it's already too late! Her meal cannot be saved. She sits on the ground and pulls her knees up to her chest, staring at the dirt in silence.

--------------------

To be honest, Chrissy wasn't sure how she'll do as she just use to wait her father growing up. So taking that advice as weeks of practice beforehand, she made sure to flip the filet of meat she was given every minute while taking a drink our of a cup of cake with the other. Beer would have been preferred but with no canning around here that was a bit difficult so she had to make due. Come to think of it, she hasn't asked if there were malted drinks around here. When the time had come she would just place what she had made on a plate and places it on the serving counter. It was between medium and well-done, hoping that's good enough.

--------------------

Seeing her friend Aya start off this competition was a nice thing to see as well. As long as everyone was having fun, that was what counted, right? Yet, as the start signal was given, Minoriko would quickly gather the provided materials to start her meal. Since she had not exactly brought anything with her, she needs to rely on what was laid out... this may be challenging!

Eventually it seems like Minoriko went with several various vegetables, as well as bacon strips, and some seasoning, taking special care in adding the right amounts of salt and pepper, to add a nice flavor. She was not too familiar with the preparation of meats, as veggies were her expertise, so it was good to start on a small scale. Bacon seemed small enough, and surprisingly, Minoriko figured that the scent coming from her grill was already quite good... was she getting it right on the first try? Glancing over at some of her competitors, Minoriko cannot help but smile awkwardly. This crab especially seems to be having bad luck...

--------------------

And off the cookoff go! Armed with a vendor's grill stand, a meat and a spatula, the fox goes to start cooking the prepared meat. Although, the fox isn't quite a meat griller, but her sure tried! With quite a heat coming from the grill (powered by the fox's own lasers) he tried to cook the meat patty as much as he could. Of course, since he is at max heat, the outsides of the meat cooks nicely in brown... that is until he puts it on a plate and cuts it in the middle... which is still red and medium-rare. He frowns.

At least this is better than burning up the patty to ashes...

--------------------

"And they're off!" Aya grins, having a seat, watching the proceedings. Well, most of them are off and cooking. One of them is just kind of going fetal. Poor crab's messed up already. She waits for the smells to start wafting through the village, indulging herself in the scents and sounds of food cooking. She tries to get a couple of good photos from her stand. Things already smell and look good, and it's just getting underway! You know if you ignore the quickly blackening and covered in coal fish. There's still time for Kani to get something else started.

--------------------

Yumemi takes note of the competition and gives Reisen a quick nod and a smile as she heads away to try her hand at the cooking competition. "Sorry for cutting this short, but...for some reason, I feel that I really should try my hand at this. I'll make sure to speak to you again before the party's over..."

With that, the professor took a place at one of the stands, hoping that she knew what she was doing. Granted, her cooking skills were average at best, and she had much more experience in theoretical physics and other scientific disciplines than how to grill meat properly. She tried her best to grill up the piece of meat with all the intensity that she could muster! After all, cooking was a very measured thing and had something to do with chemical and thermodynamic processes, didn't it..?

The result is an undercooked and rare piece of meat, showing her culinary inexperience and hubris. Oh dear...so much for trying something new or fun. If anything, Yumemi was kind of disappointed that luck wasn't on her side. Some people liked rare meat, though, so all might not be lost! And she might have time to try something else in the meanwhile!

--------------------

Taking a deep breath and steeling her resolve, Kani at last stands up, drying the tears that were running down her face a moment ago. She's determined to /do/ this. Maybe not /win/ after that little fiasco, but /do/ something. So, she runs off and grabs a few items from around the contest area, including a bit of beef, some assorted vegetables, and a couple of small, sharpened sticks. With these in hand, she returns to the grill and sets to work chopping them up with a knife she also procured from the area, and then she skewers them on the sticks, laying them on the grill.

Everyone knows how to make kebabs!

--------------------

Not to be set back by a temporary failure, as always, Yumemi puts the undercooked mess of her last meal aside! She begins to grill another piece of meat, this time taking into account her last attempt and trying not to repeat her mistakes! She works fervently in grilling the next piece of meat, chopping in into slices and trying to throw on a couple seasonings that she figured might be appropriate, turning the individual slices instead of trusting herself to cook it all in one go!

And thank goodness! The red professor smiles a little proudly as her meat sizzles, scooping it off once it reached the perfect temperature onto a bed of rice. This time, the meat might've been there for a few seconds too long, but this at least was acceptable. The way Yumemi haphazardly spiced it up had given it a slightly smokey and salty aftertaste, but at least it was good enough to pass judgement. Here goes nothing!

--------------------

Perhaps the harvest goddess was just blessed with talent? For having gone into this with little idea of what was being provided and what the actual goal was, Minoriko figured that what she had produced was more than acceptable for a first try, and deciding to roll with this, the young blonde would keep flipping the bacon-wrapped veggies, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumber and zucchini, as well as similar crops, all neatly tied with bacon.

Eventually, Minoriko places her resulting meal on a dish, ready to be judged. The meal does not look too burnt, it all has a healthy brown color. Thankfully, the bacon strips were not too thick, or they may need to rest on the grill longer... but the way they looked they were good enough! The harvest goddess was pleased and so was the crowd, it seemed. Too bad her sister had to take care of the business right now... so much for attending festivals more like siblings do more often. At least when Minoriko got back they could work together!

"Aya! I think mine is ready~.", Minoriko calls out as she smiles at the crow tengu, waiting for her to come over. She is fairly confident in what she procured.

--------------------

Tick tock tick tock. The minutes go by as things are cooked. Spectators occasionally peek in and out of the cooking contest, to do things a bit more interactive for them. "Alright. Tiiime is... up!" Aya shoots a few danmaku shots straight up into the air to signal the expiration of the deadline. The crow steps out of her seat. Considering Minoriko was the only one to actually signal that she's ready for judging, she steps over, beaming at the scent. "Okay, so what do we have here? Grilled vegetables from your garden? And wrapped in bacon. From anyone else I would have expected more meat. Not to say that's a bad thing. Smells delicious, too!" Aya grins, snapping off a photograph before she pops one of the peppers in her mouth. She scrawls a few things in her notepad. "Not bad, not bad. Next!"

--------------------

Kani /almost/ burns the kebabs too, though. She didn't expect them to take such a short time to cook! She doesn't panic nearly as bad this time, though, simply sprinkling a bit of salt onto the chunks of beef, peppers, tomatoes, and yellow squash, then quickly snatching them from the grill. They're a bit blackened, but they still at least /smell/ like food, so that's gotta count for something, right? "I, uh, I'm ready! I think!" she calls out.

--------------------

The fox had finished preparing the meat just as the timer runs out, putting little sticks to the diced patty he made, and then having small mounts of sauce to the side, complete with vegetables as well! At least, that's that the fox think of in a whim. cocktail meat. He then presets it to the judge!

--------------------

Was this the right way? Everyone seem to be adding something to theirs… Oh right! There needs to be the stuff added to it. This wasn't some kind of self-serving tray at the overly priced hamburger restaurant. She would take her plate back and begin doing the logical thing. She ponders for a moment, then uses some of the bread she asked for, cuts a tomato and even puts a slice of very green lettuce to go between them. She was unsure if there was mustard or the grow white stuff in a jar, however she remembers a trick that was taught to her and uses a garlic butter spread, lightly covering the top of the bread piece and flipping it over to finish of her cook off meal.

"Yo! I got this tasty thing hitting your taste buds straight from the south. Give it a try!" She said, calling out to Aya.

--------------------

Next up seems to be the crab. Aya heads to the next grill, looking over the kebabs. There's a couple flecks of fish on hers too. Bad marks there. "Hmm. Well, it's simple. Good mix of meat, fruit and vegetable." She blows on it, trying to cool it off before taking a bit of all four things into her mouth at the same time. And immediately finds the fifth thing that wasn't exactly intended in the kebabs. "Could have done without the charred fish in there. A little more spice could go a long way. Salt works, but... I dunno feels like something is missing. More notes.

--------------------

The fox had finished preparing the meat just as the timer runs out, putting skewering the diced beef patty he made, and then having small mounts of chili sauce, melted cheese to the side, complete with vegetables on little skewers as well! At least, that's that the fox thinks of in a whim. cocktail meat. He then presents it to the judge!

--------------------

Over to Chrissy! Aya heads over to Chrissy's grill. Time to try the burgers. "So... meat patties on bread with toppings?" Aya looks over the various things on the patty. It takes a bit of effort to wrap her mouth around the whole of the sandwich, but she manages, starting to munch on a bit of the burger. She wasn't expecting the bit of garlicky kick from the butter. A nice touch. It's cooked to about the right level of heat, too. "You did pretty well, Chrissy. Nice balance to it." She takes the rest of her sandwich to the booth for the time being, scribbling a bit more in her notepad. Nanabi and Yumemi seem to be the last couple she's waiting on. And one of them is all set.

--------------------

Yumemi raises her hand in a small triumph once she's sure it's perfect, although she's a bit nervous. "I'm ready, I suppose!" Her dish was mostly steak more so than vegetables on her end, with the meat sliced finely into strips and liberally dusted with a tangy spice mixture that might tasted vaguely of coriander and a bit of pepper. But its unique flavor was born from ingenuity and confidence! And maybe a bit of haphazard mixing. The vegetables mixed in were mostly peppers and the odd tomato chunk here and there, and there wasn't too much variety, but they were grilled and slightly crispy, giving them a decent and smokey flavor. The rice underneath this was simply plain rice, but had managed to absorb some of the juices from the grilled steak bits above and retained some of the flavors of the rest, rounding it out. All in all, for a slapdash attempt, it looked competently done! She secretly hoped it would make the cut as she brought it over to the tengu reporter, a little nervous, but still rather surprised at herself...

--------------------

Nanabi next. Aya makes her way over. "A sampler platter. Incredibly thoughtful of you." She looks really quite pleased to only have to take a little bit. it's not like people will want a burger or a bacon-wrapped vegetables that has already got a bite out of it. She bends over to take a photo of the spread (and the spreads before because she neglected to get a shot of those in prior poses. Alternatively recon them in before), before pointing to the two sauces. "So... What kinds of dipping sauces do you have over here?" She takes one of the diced up beef and dips a bit into one of the sauces and eats it. Then a second into the second sauce and tries it. The chili sauce is a bit spicy for her liking, but... "A professional job. Could have used a little more time in there, but I like how much flavor is in there." Likely came from searing the flavor in at first. Nice and juicy. "Not quite sure cheese was the right direction though." She does wait for a response on the question about the sauces before moving on though.

--------------------

"Just some chili sauce I made from back at the restaurant, and some melted cheese." He replies. "Chili's made out of the spicy ones I have back home."

--------------------

Nodding, Aya makes a note of that as well, before walking over to Yumemi's grill. "Not bad, not bad. Best presentation of the lot here." She photographs the meal presented to her. She cuts off a bit from the steak, making sure to get the rice along with it. And she skewers some of the tomato and peppers as well. She pops the last sample into her mouth. She smiles immediately. "Brilliant use of the rice." Who knew she knew anything about judging food? Anyway. "Smokey. I think you overdid it on the spice, though." She finishes her bite of food before heading back to the judge's stall. Yes, she spoke with food in her mouth. No she isn't particularly great at manners. "Alright, everyone, gather up and I'll let you know who wins this one."

--------------------

Kani Basami heads over to stand in front of the judge's stall, waiting with breath held to find out the winner. She's got a good feeling it isn't gonna be her, but there were some really strong contenders out there!

--------------------

Being fairly content with Aya's commentary about her dish, the harvest deity Minoriko approaches the judge's stall with the others, eagerly waiting for the results to come in.

--------------------

"Well, I can say this right now, you people sure didn't make it easy for me to pick. You all did great!" Aya shuffles through her photographs. "Alright, first off, I saw a lot of people using beef, tomato, and pepper today. Not to say that's a bad thing, but it sure doesn't make you stand out on its own merits." The crow smirks a bit, looking back at the burger from before. The one she only took a bite of if only because she had a lot more to eat. She shakes it off before looking out to the crowd of contenders. I think the best of the dishes though was..." Drumroll please! ...Or not. No one here happened to even bring a drum did they? She points to Chrissy. "Chrissy White! I feel kind of bad giving the host of the party the victory, but it wasn't over or under done on anything. Good balance on the vegetables, not too much spice, and the garlic was a nice treat too. That said, I would love to have more of any of these dishes. Nanabi's cocktail beef, the bacon wrapped vegetables, and the steak on rice were all delicious, and even the kebabs were alright if you can get past the taste of way overdone and stony fish." And there you have it.

--------------------

While others were busy working around cooking food it looked like Nitori's working, her extending arms fully extended and holding onto the cases of fireworks as she moved to help set up the displays. Oh that was a lot of fireworks that she's setting out. Section after section she setup as she started to wire them up. Best to keep fixing them up and testing the power before the show was ready. There would be only one time or launching thse barrages of fireworks. Better to set up the shielding and items in order to keep people from pushing buttons...

--------------------

Kani Basami is just happy she didn't /completely/ make a horrible mess of her meal! Even if Aya's just saying that to be nice, it's still kind words that were sorely needed after that little mishap at the start. "Whew! All this work's made me kinda hungry. Anyone else?" she says, looking around at the other contestants.

--------------------

The former human… Wasn't even paying attention. Nope, she had a notebook she was thumbing through that contained a bit of songs she written down, both her own and some she had heard on the radio. She has reading through the selection of songs she had decided to sing for the event when her ears perk up at the sound of her name. "Huh? What? Did someone need more of something?" Not like she was trying to sound rude but she wasn't also expecting to win either, just have a bit of fun to remind her what she'll go back home to one day.

--------------------

Of course the one that won wasn't paying attention. Well, Aya not going to chew her cabbage twice. "If you wanna know what I said, pay attention to the Bunbunmaru!" Aya said

--------------------

Of course the one that won wasn't paying attention. Well, Aya's not going to chew her cabbage twice. "If you wanna know what I said, pay attention to the Bunbunmaru!" She laughs a little bit. Of course that's going to be in the paper. The crow grins, hopping off of her judge's stand, before getting back to her sandwich. "Well, you know there's plenty of stuff to eat. Plenty of places for it." Aya grins, heading over to Nitori's stall, only to see it empty. Well that's no good. Must be off setting up the fireworks. Gives her more time for burger time though.

--------------------

Minoriko, despite not having won this and being beaten by the strange foreigner, was quite happy regardless, since she got to see so much variety, and got to try her hands on a field she rarely touches upon. At the crab speaking up, seeming to be understandably very relieved about how the end turned out to be, Minoriko would turn around to face her, smiling warmly. "Hungry? I would be quite hungry, too... but I do need to return to my stand, as I have likely some customers waiting to be serviced. How about it? Would you like some grilled vegetables, Miss? We should have plenty more!" And, having said this, Minoriko extends this offer to the entire audience. "I want to thank you for watching and cheering the contestants on... and I would be happy to see you at our Sweet Potato Stand!"

--------------------

Chrissy Looks a bit confused for a moment, her ears twitching before giving a shrug and going back to her notebook before closing it. "Well! It was fun, gals, but I need to set up for the next event. It's also dark so it's time to finish this day off with a bang!" She would say loudly before giving everyone a wave before running off. It was a tricky bit to get ready for such an event, but this was nothing new to her. In fact, every time she gets ready for singing on stage the werewolf has a pleasant smile to her.

The announcer comes back for more announcement duties. "Since I seem to have been fired from doing anything else, I'll just stick with these pointless announcements. The concert and fireworks show is still setting up. So feel free to enjoy whatever it is you do and we'll be ready shortly."

--------------------

Kani Basami nods at the offer from Minoriko, a happy grin on her face. "Yeah! I'd love to!" she agrees, mouth watering already. Catching all those fish already took a lot out of her, especially dealing with the fairies at the same time, and then all that delicious food surrounding her...

--------------------

While Yumemi didn't quite win the competition, the professor decided to go back to mingling again, feeling a little proud that she did her best. She looked over the others who competed as she went about her own business, deciding to take up Minoriko's offer for some more food and socializing. The foreigner makes a run for it to set up the end of the festivities, and Yumemi wanted to have a decent view when the usual display of fireworks erupted from parties like these!

--------------------

"Then it is settled~!", Minoriko smiles as she heads off the stage, expecting anyone wanting something from her stand to join in. It would take a few minutes before they arrived at a food stall, with several tables and benches lined up before it. Right now the elder Aki sister seemed to be managing the stall, though she seemed pretty happy to see the return of her younger sibling. Minoriko stepped behind the wagon before stepping behind the counter, and a brief exchange later, Minoriko would ask Kani and Yumemi, provided they didn't get lost on the way. "What can I make you, today? I am sure you must be having appetite after this contest." In the meantime, Shizuha was flipping a few sweet yams on the grill behind the counter. There was a menu on the side of the stall, listing several vegetable dishes, a lot of grilled and cooked stuff, all vegetarian. As well as an extra section for beverages, which ranged from all kinds of juices, to ciders, wines, and even some harder booze, burnt from the vegetables and fruit from Minoriko's own fields.

--------------------

Kani Basami didn't have any trouble finding the place, mainly because she stuck /really/ close to Minoriko the whole time. When she's asked her order, she takes a quick look at the menu before deciding, "I want some of those baked sweet potatoes, and a mug of apple cider. Hard."

--------------------

Ahhh, baked potatos. It was a good thing Minoriko had tons of them in storage each time they go to the village, becasue this dish is by far the most popular one at their stall. "Shizuha? One order of baked sweet potatos, please!", Minoriko would call out, knowing that Shizuha was handling the grills. Good thing that there had already been potatos on the grill, being kept there most of the time due to the demand, and Kani was soon enough served her ordered meal, baked sweet yams, seasoned with a little spice to give it their unique flavor. Shizuha gave a grateful nod before getting to process a few other orders. Minoriko was done soon, too, having to reach below the counter to get a hold of the bottle with the apple cider, before pouring Kani some into a paper cup. "Here you go, your order is finished, Miss!", the young goddess would say with a wide smile. She would leave it up to Kani whether she wanted to seat herself right at the counter or take place at one of the tables in front of the stall instead. "I really hope you will enjoy this. Baked sweet potatos happen to be our specialty~."

--------------------

Yumemi doesn't take too long to order, either, once she catches up with everything! "I'll have a baked sweet potato as well! I might order a drink a little later, though." The professor leaves her payment nearby! She's still all smiles, enjoying the energetic nature of most Gensokyo parties, of course. Why not live a little, while she still has time, and it'd be a waste if she didn't! "You did a pretty great job with the contest, by the way." she says to her fellow contestants. "All of this was really enjoyable, so far...all that's left is the finale, and it'd better be good." she added with a small smile.
The professor wondered if Reisen had packed up yet...although it's quite possible that she might just be able to find her afterwards.

--------------------

Another order of the same? That was no problem for the harvest goddess and her sister, who have been keeping up with this business for years, they were professionals! And since they had to rebuild their food stall due to the flooding a year or so ago, many of the components in this new cart were new, including the grill. That's why it did not take too long for Yumemi's order to be processed as well, the scientist soon being offered a plate with the desired meal, too. "Thanks for your patronage!", Minoriko would say with her usual warm expression, thanking her customer as it was always such a good feeling deep in her chest when they were happy with what the sisters made them. The payment was merely a nice bonus. "And thank you. I was not too familiar with the whole meat cooking thing, so I went with as little as seemed reasonable... I am glad that it was well received, at the very least, but you guys seem to have done a decent job as well." ... "Both of you."", she would then add, nodding at the crab with a genuine smile.

--------------------

Nitori had finished her checks and finishes up the setups as she looked to Chrissy and gave a thumbs up, "It's all ready!" she called out as she ran all those cords to the controller as she sat over the controls ready to start firing off the fireworks according to the charts that Chrissy had for setting them off. STill they got plenty of rockets and mortars and stuff for launching off one hell of a light show as it looks like all those cases are set up behind her as she's ready to light up the night!

--------------------

It looks like the announcing was going to come back up as the stage was set to go now with the help of the kappa, but the announcer would be rammed to the side as Chrissy was more than ready to announce herself back in. She was more or less excited over the entire thing so it was no surprise she would shove someone aside that was a bit despressing.

"Hey there! Sorry that took so long! Not everyone is use to my outside stage setup." Which was true as just setting up any form of electronics was a task and a half. "Anyways, I hope you all had fun today, but like all good things they must come to an end. However, I don't plan to leave everyone go without a catchy song to hum in their sleep." The high level of energy come her tone as he looks back for a moment, the band she collected and practiced with still getting their testing done.

One quick thing to explain while we wait for the green light. As you know, I'm from another country. I've wanted to do this but was unsure how you'll react so I took some time practicing a song that explains my root and has their day's theme in it. It's a very generic style where I come from, but on days like these, I think it should be allowed. Even if one day a year." One of the members gives Chrissy a thumbs as she looks over her shoulder, nodding back with a grin as she turns back to the crowd. "Now! Let's get this party started!"

--------------------

Sounds like things are back to kick off again. And Chrissy's making her entrance. Sounds like everything is set up, which must have been difficult to get a hold of, even for the kappa. Aya gets her camera all set for this. Of course Chrissy would want to get at least one song in on the stage. It's just as well, she's a good musician. Even with that weird style of music she plays. She takes a couple of photos of the wolf youkai on stage.

--------------------

With the business at their stall going on now, the young goddess and her sister sadly had little way to properly attend, but as it turned out that the customers ceased to order more at the moment, the two sisters could sit back behind the counter at least as they listened to the song which was commencing to happen in a few. This would be a nice way to rest for a moment, before taking care of the guests for another hour or two before packing up and going home!

--------------------

Chrissy starts off with a long string rub on her guitar to get the drawn out and pleasing warped note, then the rest of the band joins in. The melody is light and smooth, a kind that gives one a relaxed and welcoming feeling as strums of the guitar are as light as the tapping of the drum. After a minute of musical intro, the werewolf leads into the song.

Sweet southern smell of summer in Savannah
Tailgate drop Tuscaloosa, Alabama, that's my hometown
Yeah that's my hometown

New York City, subway on the run,
San Diego surfers, soaking in the sun
That's my hometown
America's my hometown.

The music beat goes up a quarter beat, getting slightly louder but in a more cheerful tone.

We got blue collar people
Little pink houses
White church steeples
Wishes in a fountain
If you know every name on your street
And you know them then you know me
That's my hometown
America's my hometown.

--------------------

And there is Nitori setting up fireworks to fire off with the beat going up and louder, rockets launching up with brilliant tails before exploding in brilliant barrages of red white and blue sparks which slowly fell down towards the ground. Seems like there was some odd pattern here or those colors really meant something or they were Chrissy's favorite colors. It seemed like the fireworks are being set to ends of verses or at least major changes in the song.

--------------------

Aya seems to have her attention darting between the show up on stage and the explosions going on up in the sky. The choice of colors strikes Aya as unusual, but she doesn't pay it any more mind than anything else. The place names are unfamiliar to her, too, but it doesn't stop her from enjoying the song. She bops her head in time with the music, and just snapping shot after shot of everything.

--------------------

As the song started and the fireworks went off, Minoriko couldn't help but smile to herself a little. It just felt like the other festivals they had in recent years... Particularly the harvest moon festivals seemed to be something which flashed back in the younger Aki's mind. However, she did notice how loud the fireworks were, in comparison to the danmaku show that was usually being put up at the end of these festivals. Knowing an Outsider planned all of this though, it explained that this time the finish turned out a little different than on other years. "Do you think we will have more of these festivals in the future, Shizuha? I am not sure whether I understand what we are celebrating here, but... it's nice, isn't it?"

--------------------

The song was feel of high energy like most of her songs were, nor had that heavy meat feel to it as there was no jammer on guitars or drums. It was a song made to be relaxing and thoughtful. The beat doesn't change as they keep the slightly fast pace portion up.

Trash can fire, north Detroit
Seventh inning stretch Chicago, Illinois
That's my hometown
America's my hometown

Down in Nashville, out in Hot Springs
Seattle, San Antone, doin' our thing.

Chrissy looks up at the lightshow, smiling a bit as she closes her eyes for a moment just to soak in a memory of her past, then looks back down onto the crowd as she places her emotions into the repeating chorus.

We got blue collar people
Little pink houses
White church steeples
Wishes in a fountain
If you know every name on your street
And you know them then you know me
That's my hometown
America's my hometown
Yeah that's my hometown
America's my hometown.

--------------------

And the rockets and mortars are increasing in frequency with a number of them being all but invisible before they went off high in the skies at different levels often having just parts which will just soon vanish after fading and a few just did long dropping bits of Red White and Blue. Well it looks like Nitori's keeping her pacing and mixing up various fireworks as it seems that everything's going right. Of course she's got safety goggles down over her eyes as she's keeping things safe for herself.

Yumemi, having since taken her potato and nibbled on it some, might be familiar with a vague spattering of names. She'd come from /an/ Outside at least, tapping her feet to the music and enjoying it. She turns back to the Aki sisters and offers them both a little smile... "Sometimes, people like to celebrate for the sake of celebration, you know. And in a place like this, that has festivals aplenty, a couple more aren't going to hurt." She seems very content as she turns to watch the ongoing display and Chrissy's enthusiastic performance. It was quite a show, to be sure, and a great way to end off on a high note. After a little while, she started tapping a little more to the beat, swaying her head along with it. "This is one reason why I don't regret coming here..."

--------------------

Minoriko would blink a little in surprises as she and her sister were being adressed, though listening to her words, or trying to as the overall volume of the show was quite loud, Minoriko would eventually nod, having understood most of it. "More are not going to hurt, indeed!", Minoriko would exclaim, smiling aside at her sister as she already thought of plans for this year's Harvest Festival...

--------------------

It was a bit warm in her outfit, giving a small beat break to wipe the sweat forming on her forehead. Then it's about a minute of musical intermission as the mood of the song was given time to sink in, then slows down by half a beat, even getting quitter before everyone stops but the drum, giving soft beats for the next couple of versus.

Stars shinin' down on Memphis at night
Reminds me of those Las Vegas lights
Big Sky
Montana to New Orleans
And every one light city that sits in between

Then the band starts up with that fast pace like they we're playing earlier.

That's my hometown
America's my hometown
Yeah that's my hometown
America's my hometown.

With a quick notion in hopes the kappa seeing to the pyro tactics can see her, the werewolf gives a quick thumbs up to signal the final chorus of the song.

We got blue collar people
Little pink houses
White church steeples
Wishes in a fountain
If you know every name on your street
And you know them then you know me
That's my hometown
America's my hometown
Yeah that's my hometown
America's my hometown.

And this is where Nitori starts flipping switches and pushing buttons like crazy, rockets and mortars going off constantly as it looks like the entire skies are lighting up with fireworks and explosions and noises, crackles and bursts, all sorts of crazy fireworks ripping in air leading to mixes of ones which slowly twinkled down, others which whistled and others which just scattered and changed colors as they fell. Honestly it looked like one crazy danmaku battle in the skies over the village.

--------------------

The band plays for another couple of minutes as the fireworks went off, then dies out when the last of the bright lights fade away and all that light up the stage were various lanterns as the music would soon die out. The former rock star would let out a pleased sigh before talking into the mic once more. "Thanks everyone for attending. I had a lot of fun here tonight and I hope you did as well! Just remember; if it isn't Chrissy White, it isn't the right music!" She would giggle and blow a kiss to her attending audience before she would quickly start heading off as the event comes to a close, most of the people now close up and break down everything use to set up.

The werewolf had to admit it's been awhile since she had this amount of fun, but once the next day comes, it was back to work like usual. So, she was going to take her time to enjoy the company of others before she declared this night over with.

--------------------

Aya Shameimaru gives a bit of applause now that things are complete. One last photograph before finally giving her camera a bit of a rest. "Great show!" Even if she doesn't know what an America is, or where these places are. She enjoyed the music all the same, and it's been a fun party. She even got to decide a contest! Happy day! Just kind of a shame it couldn't have lasted longer or had more people show up. Still a success.

--------------------

Of course after launching all these rockets and such Nitori had to slip up her goggles as she would have soot around her face and would need to definitely wash her face but that was definitely a successful launching all those fireworks and one hell of a light show! "I Think we got em all off." She said knowing she'd be drowned off as she slumped down a bit. [Ashe Gray]
